AHAs are applied in a similar fashion to tretinoin:

Cleanse the face and/or body and wait about 20 minutes so the skin is completely dry and has replenished its natural oils.

If the AHA you have selected is in a moisturizing base, simply apply the cream. if it is in a nonmoisturizing base, apply the AHA prior to using a moisturizer. If it is applied after the moisturizer it will not penetrate the skin.

Be sure to use a broad spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of at least 15.

Avoid using astringents or toners as they will contribute to dryness and irritation.

The benefits of AHA should be seen within I to 4 months, but don't expect miracles. More aggressive treatments are required for deep creases and loose skin.
