Hair Removal by Bleaching

Bleaching is one way of making existing hair less conspicuous ... good for down rather than thick, coarse hairs. There are various recipes for a home bleach ... two teaspoons of Fuller's Earth mixed to a paste with one teaspoon 20 vol. peroxide. Or two tablespoons 20 vol. peroxide and six drops of ammonia. Or 30 vol. peroxide mixed with two or three drops of ammonia, Fuller's Earth or soapflakes. Apply the paste. Leave on for five 10 minutes (depending on how sensitive your skin is), then rinse off with cold water. Apply the liquid bleach mixture with cotton balls. Bleach down on upper lip or on arms. Electrolysists sometimes advise bleaching in between sessions.
