Making the most of Your Eyes
Eye make up takes little time but makes a great difference to your looks. Follow this simple, step by step guide and you will get the best results. The main article advises you on the colour and texture of cosmetic to use on your eyes.
1. Use a brush to shape and blend in your eyeshadow. The colour is deepest around the socket, fading below the brow line.
2. Use a gloss to highlight the eye on the brow line.
3. Keep the eyeliner subtle with a thin line close to the eyelash roots.
4. Soften the liquid eye line with a soft leaded eyeliner pencil.
5. Apply mascara, looking down.
6. Apply more mascara, looking up.
7. Then mascara the bottom eyelashes.
8. Brush your eyelashes through with a clean, dry brush.
9. Give your eyelashes an extra curl using eyelash curlers.
Squeeze gently.
10. Check the line of your eyebrows with the pencil test. First hold the pencil against the side of the nostrils then angle the pencil from the nostril to the outer eye corner.
11. Pluck your eyebrows in the direction of hair growth.
12. Use soft, feathery strokes with an eyebrow pencil to fill in sparse eyebrows.
Mascara is available in two forms, as a block and in a roll on container. The block type is a surface active material. It is similar in consistency to soap. It contains waxes and pigments. Roll on mascara is a dispersion of pigments in a jellylike base. It contains volatile spirit which evaporates to facilitate quick drying. Roll on mascara may contain polymer.
Eyeshadows are sticks, similar to lipsticks. They are cast into a stick strong enough to apply without cracking and soft enough not to drag the skin. Colours and oils are dispersed in a waxy base. Cream shadows have more emollient.
Eye make up removers contain a cleansing element such as 'tension active amphotere', perhaps Allantoin, preservatives, rosewater concentrate and distilled water. Eye care creams are fairly simple. The consistency is light for easy and comfortable application.
