How Much Exercise Needed for Healthy Body
It is necessary to exercise aerobically for at least a half hour 4 times a week in order to effect a substantial change in your body An aerobic exercise program should begin gradually, as little as 10 minutes at the onset of the program, especially for those individuals who have a sedentary lifestyle. To prepare the body both psychologically and physiologically approximately 10 to 15 minutes should be spent warming up prior to the aerobic portion of the program and another 10 to 15 minutes cooling down after the more intense middle portion, Warm up exercises could simply be slower paced walking or cycling. Calisthenic exercises may be included in the cool down portion.Regular exercise increases the metabolic rate for up to 24 hours after a workout.
The intensity of the exercise is also important. Moderate exercise appears to be more effective in mobilizing fat stores than highly intensive exercise.
To determine a moderate action pulse rate, subtract your age from 220 and multiply this figure by 70% (.70). Fat utilization by the body is maximized at this pulse rate. Fat bum off falls precipitously at 80 to 90% of an individual's theoretical pulse rate.
