Hair Removal by Tweezing
Tweezing is a common hair removal
choice for eyebrows and stray facial
hairs. It is an easy way to remove
single hairs and "clean up" a facial
area. While tweezing occasionally
causes skin irritation between the brows, it is usually a temporary redness that disappears in a few minutes.
Always clean a skin area before tweezing with a mild cleansing lotion; and always flush with an antiseptic lotion and apply moisturizer after tweezing. Don't forget to sterilize tweezers with alcohol before using each time.
Beware of overtweezing eyebrows, which can produce a very unnaturallooking result. The idea is to maintain the natural shape of your brows and simply to "clean away" any stray hairs. If you find that you have a tendency to overtweeze, then consult a professional and have your brows done professionally once, watching how the tweezing process is conducted. Some women prefer to have their brows tweezed or waxed (see the section on waxing below) by a skin care professional at the same time that they have a facial.
If skin becomes very red or angry during tweezing, apply a drop of a calming facial mask, or blend a drop of chamomile powder into a teaspoon of buttermilk and apply. Yet another skin calming option is to apply a cold sour cream or milk compress (a clean cotton ball soaked in sour cream or cool milk) to the skin area for a few minutes.
