Weekly Hair Care

Hair needs a special nourishing treatment, at least once a week, Hair conditioners are good for hair, which should be applied after shampooing.

Warm olive oil, almond oil or coconut oil should be applied either the previous night or an hour before shampoo. A medicine dropper can be used for applying oil all over the scalp before massaging your hair.

After rubbing in the oil, wrap your head in a hot towel so that the oil is soaked into the hair.

A hot towel is prepared by immersing a large towel in almost boiling water. This towel is then taken out and placed in another dry towel and the two are wrung out. The first towel is then wrapped around the head turbanwise.

Now shampoo your hair and then rinse thoroughly to get rid of any traces of shampoo. You may put a little vinegar or ammonia or lime juice in the final rinsing water.

For general conditioning of hair, egg yolks can be massaged into damp hair and then rinsed with lukewarm water. Even curd is good for massage of hair.

After rinsing, dry hair gently by blotting it with a soft, absorbent towel. Vigorous rubbing may break wet hair.

The next step is setting your hair. But before this you need a hair cut, preferably done professionally. After a good cut, it is easier to set your hair yourself. If you have long hair , cut its tips regularly to avoid split ends.

The next step is applying a setting lotion which adds crispness and body to any style.

Now lift a section of hair at a time, comb it and roll on to a roller and then put the roller on the head in the direction required for the end result. The hair should be rolled inward for nearly all styles. Large or small rollers may be used. Hair grips are used for making pin curis, whenever the hair is too short to get into rollers.

A hand dryer may be used for quicker drying. Any form of heat can dry hair. Rollers should not be removed until the hair is absolutely dry, otherwise your hair set will fall out.

After removing rollers, brush thoroughly and then backbrush lightly if more fullness is needed.

The lock of hair you want to back brush or back comb should be held straight up, then brushed or combed towards the roots. Stop a little away from the roots.

Now brush and comb hair into the desired style and spray, holding the sprayer about 12 inches away from the hair. Short, quick sprays are more effective, otherwise the spray will concentrate at one place.

A good spray should hold the style gently but firmly, dry quickly and leave hair shiny and not sticky.

None of the above mentioned processes should be skipped, if you want a neat set.
